Andrew is the Manager, Technical Research, at the Public Record Office Victoria where he is develops and implements strategies to deal with the preservation of digital information. He obtained an MSc in Computer Science from the University of Melbourne in 1988 in computer networking. From then until 2006 he worked at CSIRO, in areas ranging through computer networking, internet resource discovery, document mangement, and digital preservation. His work with digital preservation commenced in 1998 when CSIRO, together with Ernst and Young, developed the Victorian Electronic Records Strategy (VERS).
After this, Andrew worked on a VERS trial in the Victorian public serives. In 2002 he was seconded to PROV to work on techical research connected with digital archives, including working on PROV's implementation of a digital archive. He moved from CSIRO to PROV in 2006.
