SMITH, Bruce

Bruce holds a Master of Arts (Archives & Records) degree from Monash University and a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) and has over 20 years experience in the archives and records management field. He has worked with the Public Record Office Victorian (the Victorian Government archives) in a range of positions, as an archives and records educator at the University of Melbourne and RMIT University. Bruce has undertaken consultancy work since the early 1990s and for the past five years he has been a freelance archives and records consultant and trainer. During this time he has undertaken projects with a number of Australian businesses. In 2004 Bruce was the inaugural recipient of the Ian Maclean Award from the National Archives of Australia to undertake research into business archives in Australia.
Bruce is a professional member of the Australian Society of Archivists and was National Treasurer of the Society from 1993 until 2001. He was also been Manager of the Society's Aus-Archivists Listserv and webmaster for the Society.
