Biography:
Marian Hoy has a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the Australian National University, a Graduate Diploma in Archives Administration from the University of Wales, United Kingdom, a Masters in Education Leadership from the University of Canberra and is currently a candidate for a Doctor of Philosophy (Education) at the University of Canberra, Australia.
Marian Hoy has been a member of the Steering Committee of the International Council on Archives, Section on Archival Education (SAE) since 2004 representing her employer, the National Archives of Australia. Her main role with this Committee has been coordinating the translation of the Training the Trainer Resource Pack into French, Spanish, Portuguese and Bahasa Indonesian, in consultation with colleagues from France, Argentina, Brazil and Indonesia. Also in her role with the SAE, Marian Hoy has presented a paper at the 2nd Asia-Pacific Conference for Archival Educators (Tokyo 2006) and has taught a component of the Graduate Certificate in Archival Studies at the Hong Kong University in 2008, a program developed by EASTICA, the East Asia Branch of the ICA. At the ICA Congress, Marian Hoy will be delivering the English workshops on how to apply the Training the Trainer Resource Pack.
In Australia, Marian Hoy is a member of the Education and Professional Development Committee of the Australian Society of Archivists (ASA) and the Education Officer on the Records Management Association of Australasia (RMAA) Australian Capital Territory Branch Council. Marian has published in areas relating to archival control systems, thesauri, training, and competency frameworks. Marian Hoy has been a practising archivist for 25 years.
