A half-day on the various components of the PARBICA Recordkeeping for Good Governance Toolkit.
Target audience:
Archivists and officials from developing countries wanting to learn about the PARBICA Recordkeeping for Good Governance Toolkit
Overall purpose and significance of session:
The Recordkeeping for Good Governance Toolkit has been produced by PARBICA for archivists to better equip government agencies in developing countries to improve the state of recordkeeping within their administrations. This workshop will introduce participants to the components of the toolkit and will workshop ways in which it can be used by ICA members and others.
Content description:

Phase one of the Toolkit consists of: (a) a brochure and a poster aimed at permanent secretaries, chief executive officers and other departmental heads that explains their responsibilities in relation to recordkeeping, and highlights the benefits of ensuring that those responsibilities are met; (b) a checklist to help an organisation ascertain whether it has in place the things it needs to manage records well; (c) guidelines for archivists and records managers on how to identify, document, communicate and fulfil public sector recordkeeping requirements; and (d) PowerPoint slides that will help our members introduce and explain these products in their own countries. Other modules are currently under development.
