Content description:

The National Archives of Finland have recently developed a centralized classification framework and records schedule system which serves the whole administration in Finland. This architecture consists of systems which provide records schedules, handling rules, and operative services for citizens, all within a digital preservation system. Thanks to this framework, the National Archives of Finland can present an effective and seamless life cycle of electronic records which guarantees trustworthy and reliable long-term preservation in the electronic format.

In the Slovenian context, archivists have drawn upon recently passed legislation for the protection of documents and archives to create systems that assure the enduring legal validity and evidential value of documents. The legislation, which the Republic of Slovenia passed in 2006 in the area of documents and archives management, will be presented, which stresses safe capture and material storage in digital form. As a result of this legislation the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia have developed a new methodology will be presented as well.
