Abstract:
Progress and issues solved in the first decade of 21st Century on how to deal with electronic records and information. Will cover metadata, the work of the Australasian Digital Recordkeeping Initiative and the DLM Forum in Europe, recordkeeping standards, digital preservation, etc.
Target audience:
Anyone wanting to learn about current and future directions in digital information management, with a particular focus on Australasian initiatives

To highlight the need for proactive, integrated approaches to managing digital information across the entire information continuum
Content description:

1. Natalie Ceeney and Ross Gibbs - The Paradigm Shift for Archives in the Information Society: from Keeper to Information Manager [working title].

2. Christine Johnston (NAA) Dam the data deluge: A risk management approach. A fast changing technical environment is creating vast volumes of data presenting significant challenges for archivists in both identifying archival records and managing them over time. In this environment risk has emerged as an important management tool to identify which records need to be created and kept. The National Archives of Australia has been assisting government agencies improve their current records management practices for a number of years using risk strategies.
