The National Archives of Ghana have evolved considerably over the past two decades. This presentation will address changes introduced by the Records Management Improvement Programme from 1992-1999, and will evaluate the impact and sustainability of the project. In addition, it will explore the issue of governmental awareness of the importance of records as a strategic resource.

To present and discuss the issues surrounding archives in developing countries
The presentation will include highlights and photographs of the Director's tour of the regions of Ghana to meet with the staff and to organise training for them in records management.
