An interview with ARMA international
ARMA International is a non-profit professional association and an authority on managing records and information, both paper and electronic. The Flying Reporters spoke to Marilyn Bier, Executive Director of ARMA, Cheryl Pederson, Past President of ARMA and Sharon Alexander-Gooding, Executive Director of ARMA International about their visions and the partnership with ICA.
How do you see your partnership with ICA?
Marilyn, Cheryl and Sharon indicated that ARMA’s partnership with ICA is evolving and maturing. The synergies between the two professional associations contribute to the development of collaboration in the area of recordkeeping. They further indicated that ICA and ARMA have a shared vision, as both records managers and archivists are dealing with the same issues, particularly in the area of electronic records management, compliance and preservation of digital records. They also felt that ARMA and ICA have a similar approach to setting standards and best practices, developing competencies and promoting the value of records and the records profession. ARMA looks forward to their continued relationship with ICA.
What are your impressions of the conference?
Marilyn, Cheryl and Sharon mentioned that they have enjoyed the educational sessions and the conversations they’ve had with colleagues from all over the world. They very much appreciate the Malaysian hospitality and kindness.
