Blanca Desantes, Manager of the Archival Coordination and Programming Area of the Deputy General Directorate of State Archives of the Spanish Ministry of Culture. Civil Servant at the Archive Faculty Body since 1986. Graduate in Medieval History from the Universidad Complutense in Madrid. Her professional career has been carried out at the General Spanish Civil War Archive, at the National Historic Archive and at the Deputy General Directorate of State Archives. Her functions have been centred on document description, especially on photographic documents. Member of the Committee of Standards for Archival Description of the International Council on Archives. She has participated in the drawing up of ISAAR (CPF). Vice-chair of the ICA Committee on Best Practices and Standards; she was part of the Working Group responsible for the drawing up of the ISDIAH. Involved in national working groups for the development of archival standards and archival resources on the Web. Expert in several EU working groups. She has published numerous tools for describing holdings and collections kept at the State Archives and has collaborated, through specialised articles, in different technical publications and magazines.
