DR. RUSNAH JOHARE, a senior lecturer of records and archives management, has many years of professional and academic experience in the information management field, ranging from job as an archivist at the National Archives of Malaysia to her current position as the Deputy Dean (Quality and Research) at the Faculty of Information Management, Universiti Teknologi MARA Malaysia (UiTM). She received a B.A (Hons.) from the University Science of Malaysia, a Professional Certificate in Archives Administration and an M.A in Overseas Records Management, both from the University College London, and a Ph.D in Electronic Records Management from the Northumbria University, Newcastle, England. Areas of Interest Her major areas of research are in electronic records management, preservation of information, and oral history and documentation. She has been active in the Records and Archives research and consultancy projects with the Malaysian Ministry of Health, the Malaysian States Archives, Records and Library Services, the Malaysian Perdana Leadership Foundation and other private organizations. Currently she is supervising doctoral dissertations in electronic government, medical records (clinical micro systems), metadata, competency profiles, and knowledge capture in electronic environments. Her teaching areas reflect her research interests; she has taught courses on electronic records management, research methods in records and archives, oral documentation, preservation of information, managing archives, medical records management and legal records management. She was involved in the National Archives Colonial Oral History project in the United Kingdom, documenting the experiences of the British colonial officers who have served in Malaysia. She has conducted research on Malaysia’s archival materials located abroad especially in the United Kingdom. She has also involved in several projects organized by the International Records Management Trust (IRMT), London where she was appointed as one of the Education Advisors for the publication of the training manuals for managing public sector records; involved in the Commonwealth Educators’ meeting in Malta; and the Global Forum project in Johannesburg. The most recent is her appointment as the Director of TEAM Malaysia of the prestigious International Project on Permanent Authentic Records in Electronic Systems Phase 3 (InterPARES 3) under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Luciana Duranti at the University of British Columbia, Canada. Rusnah has published a number of articles and presented papers both in Malaysia and abroad on electronic records management.
